0:37 no Lance don't jump out the helicopter Oh no he has air pods in he can't hear us. I think the poor reviews this movie received are a reflection of a jaded, entirely-adult community of reviewers. It wasn't perfect - it was somewhat light on jokes that my 5-year-old understood and the live action sequences were a little tense and ill-fitting, but made for acceptable bookend sequences. The screenplay was quite good, and the voice acting was superb. The songs weren't the focal point of the movie & kind of began and ended without much adieu, which I actually preferred over the jarring music video feel of the songs in Frozen/2. Gaffigan's character felt like he wrote his dialogue himself and thus it was a particular highpoint. The joke at the end about the other dinosaurs recognizing the main one was an excellent end to the movie. The entire sequence with Radcliffe was very good viewing material, though maybe not as much for young kids.

An american in paris cast and crew. Jerry Mulligan (Gene Kelly) is a struggling American painter who quit his job in the army to pursue his passion in the sizzling Paris. His good friend includes Adam Cook (Oscar Levant) an unknown pianist who lives in an apartment nearby. Adam introduces Jerry to Henri Baurel (Georges Guetary) a popular local crooner, who is to marry a 'vivacious, modern, enchanting, fascinating, exciting, sweet, shy and scholarly' dancer Lise ( Jerry does not know about this, however. Jerry puts his landscape paintings on display along the brick walls in the streets of Paris, and makes a paltry living out of it. His character is somewhat nasty, but many struggling street artists whom I have met are actually nasty with their take-it-or-leave attitude. He meets Milo (Nina Foch) a middle-aged rich woman who takes fancy to his paintings and agrees to buy two of his works. However, it can be observed here how Milo is actually trying to woo Jerry, as she tells Jerry that she does not have enough money and invites him to her hotel room. Madonna of the 50s, I say! Jerry does not respond well to her advances and starts flirting unabashedly with a young girl at the pub aka Lise. Jerry gets her number and almost prowls her to fall in love with him, which she eventually does. Conversely, Lise sets out more traps for Jerry. The rest is well. obvious.
The Oscar and Golden Globes Associations have infamously awarded lesser deserving films, actors, actresses, supporting actors, supporting actresses, documentaries, music, screenplay. For example, Sandra Bullock's tough white compassionate mother act that paled even in comparison to a similar tough mom act by Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich. Or take the complete failure of recognition of 1952s 'Singin' in The Rain' a definitive musical masterpiece also starring Gene Kelly, and my personal choice for the greatest film of the 20th century. But to see 'An American in Paris' win Best Picture and Best Screenplay. is an unexpected and somewhat sour surprise. Why? Because An American in Paris is an incomplete film, lacking a thorough script, thin of memorable songs and dance sequences, short of convincing performances and devoid of a proper conclusion. How can this be rewarded the best script when the last twenty minutes did not receive enough momentum from the first ninety minutes, thus making the entire attempt somewhat flat?
Gene Kelly's larger-than-life, showy persona proved an advantage in 'SITR' but here, where he has to downplay his character, it militates his likability. Also, his treatment of Jean Hagen's Lena Lamont in SITR was correct because of Lena's demanding diva personality. But to behave in the same way with Milo in AAIP made him a bit of a cad, especially when he drops her like a brick in the end without even considering her feelings for once, that too when he was acting in the same fashion albeit to woo Lise. He also has this slightly putting off habit of acting and moving in an affected way that is paradoxical to his role. Watch the first scene where he gets up fully aware that there is a camera in front of him, and then performs various movements in a rehearsed fashion. Works well at times, especially during the sing and dance numbers but lacks trueness otherwise. Hard to blame him though, since many actors 'act' this way.
Leslie Caron does not live up to all the qualities mentioned about her by Henri. She seems shy, somewhat traditional and even reticent, like Talia Shire's character in Rocky. It is only when she dances that there comes some personality in her. But she still does not have the desired screen presence during the numbers, and cannot stand out when performing in a group. Also her chemistry with Gene is often bland and one-sided; Gene at least manages to show some fondness towards her while Leslie looks as if she is just playing along with him. Henri can sing well and act charmingly, but his character too is poorly given the chauffeur/dad-who-opposes-then-concedes treatment. They could have had some dialog between Henri and Lise, since love can't be so easily given up. And don't get me started on the ridiculous superhero-like costumes both Gene and Henri were wearing in the otherwise serious scene before the final performance!
Oscar Levant was utterly wasted; he had a promising back-story or whatever you call it. They could have especially done more after his daydreaming concert act to draw attention upon his unfulfilled desires of becoming famous before the party scene. Oscar Levant, like many other actors, just parrots his lines without adding any gravity to it. Nina Foch was the only actor truly worth mentioning here; she conveys her dry charm, furtiveness and ultimately disappointment well.
All of the songs are melodious but not catchy. However, they have the French charm that gives fervor to the movie. Even 'My Fair Lady' had fabulous numbers but I cannot remember any; it is because unlike Singing in the Rain or Marry Poppins or Sound of Music, they don't carry indelible hooks. So it isn't a fault, just a lacking. But the fault was to place all these numbers in this film; they failed to add up and boost the finale. Conversely, SITR placed its numbers so well that the 12 minute Broadway Melody spectacle at the end was just dazzling.
I have to commend the unique filming techniques in the film: Lise could not be described more wonderfully, the one-man band was clever and the theatrical finishing was ingenious. The performances, especially the one between Kelly and Guetary brought a smile to my face. But the movie itself disappointed me; it seems like a beta version when compared to Singing in the Rain, but as a standalone, it was underwhelming.
My Rating: 5.5 out of 10.

An american in paris san francisco. Themes from An American in Paris An American in Paris is a jazz-influenced orchestral piece by American composer George Gershwin first performed in 1928. It was inspired by the time that Gershwin had spent in Paris and evokes the sights and energy of the French capital in the 1920s. Walter Damrosch had asked Gershwin to write a full concerto following the success of Rhapsody in Blue (1924). [1] Gershwin scored the piece for the standard instruments of the symphony orchestra plus celesta, saxophones, and automobile horns. He brought back four Parisian taxi horns for the New York premiere of the composition, which took place on December 13, 1928, in Carnegie Hall, with Damrosch conducting the New York Philharmonic. [2] [3] He completed the orchestration on November 18, less than four weeks before the work's premiere. [4] He collaborated on the original program notes with critic and composer Deems Taylor. Background [ edit] Although the story is likely apocryphal, [5] Gershwin is said to have been attracted by Maurice Ravel 's unusual chords, and Gershwin went on his first trip to Paris in 1926 ready to study with Ravel. After his initial student audition with Ravel turned into a sharing of musical theories, Ravel said he could not teach him, saying, "Why be a second-rate Ravel when you can be a first-rate Gershwin? " [6] That 1926 trip, however, resulted in a snippet of melody entitled "Very Parisienne", [7] that the initial musical motive of An American in Paris, written as a 'thank you note' to Gershwin's hosts, Robert and Mabel Schirmer. Gershwin called it "a rhapsodic ballet"; it is written freely and in a much more modern idiom than his prior works. [8] Gershwin strongly encouraged Ravel to come to the United States for a tour. To this end, upon his return to New York, Gershwin joined the efforts of Ravel's friend Robert Schmitz, a pianist Ravel had met during the war, to urge Ravel to tour the U. S. Schmitz was the head of Pro Musica, promoting Franco-American musical relations, and was able to offer Ravel a $10, 000 fee for the tour, an enticement Gershwin knew would be important to Ravel. [9] [ citation needed] Gershwin greeted Ravel in New York in March 1928 during a party held for Ravel's birthday by Éva Gauthier. [10] Ravel's tour reignited Gershwin's desire to return to Paris which he and his brother Ira did after meeting Ravel. [7] Ravel's high praise of Gershwin in an introductory letter to Nadia Boulanger caused Gershwin to seriously consider taking much more time to study abroad in Paris. Yet after playing for her, she told him she could not teach him. Nadia Boulanger gave Gershwin basically the same advice she gave all of her accomplished master students: "What could I give you that you haven't already got? " [11] [12] This did not set Gershwin back, as his real intent abroad was to complete a new work based on Paris and perhaps a second rhapsody for piano and orchestra to follow his Rhapsody in Blue. Paris at this time hosted many expatriate writers, among them Ezra Pound, W. B. Yeats, Ernest Hemingway; and artist Pablo Picasso. [13] Composition [ edit] Gershwin based An American in Paris on a melodic fragment called "Very Parisienne", written in 1926 on his first visit to Paris as a gift to his hosts, Robert and Mabel Schirmer. He described the piece as a "rhapsodic ballet" because it was written freely and is more modern than his previous works. Gershwin explained in Musical America, "My purpose here is to portray the impressions of an American visitor in Paris as he strolls about the city, listens to the various street noises, and absorbs the French atmosphere. " [12] The piece is structured into five sections, which culminate in a loose ABA format. Gershwin's first A episode introduces the two main "walking" themes in the "Allegretto grazioso" and develops a third theme in the "Subito con brio". [14] The style of this A section is written in the typical French style of composers Claude Debussy and Les Six. [10] This A section featured duple meter, singsong rhythms, and diatonic melodies with the sounds of oboe, English horn, and taxi horns. The B section's "Andante ma con ritmo deciso" introduces the American Blues and spasms of homesickness. The "Allegro" that follows continues to express homesickness in a faster twelve-bar blues. In the B section, Gershwin uses common time, syncopated rhythms, and bluesy melodies with the sounds of trumpet, saxophone, and snare drum. "Moderato con grazia" is the last A section that returns to the themes set in A. After recapitulating the "walking" themes, Gershwin overlays the slow blues theme from section B in the final "Grandioso". Response [ edit] Gershwin did not particularly like Walter Damrosch's interpretation at the world premiere of An American in Paris. He stated that Damrosch's sluggish, dragging tempo caused him to walk out of the hall during a matinee performance of this work. The audience, according to Edward Cushing, responded with "a demonstration of enthusiasm impressively genuine in contrast to the conventional applause which new music, good and bad, ordinarily arouses. " Critics believed that An American in Paris was better crafted than his lukewarm Concerto in F. Some did not think it belonged in a program with classical composers César Franck, Richard Wagner, or Guillaume Lekeu on its premiere. Gershwin responded to the critics, "It's not a Beethoven Symphony, you know... It's a humorous piece, nothing solemn about it. It's not intended to draw tears. If it pleases symphony audiences as a light, jolly piece, a series of impressions musically expressed, it succeeds. " [12] Instrumentation [ edit] An American in Paris was originally scored for 3 flutes (3rd doubling on piccolo), 2 oboes, English horn, 2 clarinets in B-flat, bass clarinet in B-flat, 2 bassoons, contrabassoon, 4 horns in F, 3 trumpets in B-flat, 3 trombones, tuba, timpani, snare drum, bass drum, triangle, wood block, ratchet, cymbals, low and high tom-toms, xylophone, glockenspiel, celesta, 4 taxi horns labeled as A, B, C and D with circles around them, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, (all saxophones doubling soprano saxophones) and strings. [15] Although most modern audiences have heard the taxi horns using the notes A, B, C and D, it has recently come to light [16] that Gershwin's intention was to have used the notes A ♭ 4, B ♭ 4, D 5, and A 4. [17] It is likely that in labeling the taxi horns as A, B, C and D with circles, he may have been referring to the use of the four different horns and not the notes that they played. A major revision of the work by composer and arranger F. Campbell-Watson simplified the instrumentation by reducing the saxophones to only three instuments, alto, tenor and baritone. The soprano saxophone doublings were eliminated to avoid changing instruments and the contrabassoon was also deleted. This became the standard performing edition until 2000, when Gershwin specialist Jack Gibbons made his own restoration of the original orchestration of An American in Paris, working directly from Gershwin's original manuscript, including the restoration of Gershwin's soprano saxophone parts removed in F. Campbell-Watson's revision; Gibbons' restored orchestration of An American in Paris was performed at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall on July 9, 2000 by the City of Oxford Orchestra conducted by Levon Parikian [18] William Daly arranged the score for piano solo which was published by New World Music in 1929. [19] [20] Preservation status [ edit] On September 22, 2013, it was announced that a musicological critical edition of the full orchestral score would be eventually released. The Gershwin family, working in conjunction with the Library of Congress and the University of Michigan, were working to make scores available to the public that represent Gershwin's true intent. It was unknown if the critical score would include the four minutes of material Gershwin later deleted from the work (such as the restatement of the blues theme after the faster 12 bar blues section), or if the score would document changes in the orchestration during Gershwin's composition process. [21] The score to An American in Paris was scheduled to be issued first in a series of scores to be released. The entire project was expected take 30 to 40 years to complete, but An American in Paris was planned to be an early volume in the series. [22] [23] Two urtext editions of the work were published by the German publisher B-Note Music in 2015. The changes made by Campbell-Watson were withdrawn in both editions. In the extended urtext, 120 bars of music were re-integrated. Conductor Walter Damrosch had cut them shortly before the first performance. [24] On September 9, 2017, The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra gave the world premiere of the long-awaited critical edition of the piece prepared by Mark Clague, director of the Gershwin initiative at the University of Michigan. This also featured a restoration of the original 1928 orchestration, except that it upheld the deletion of the contrabassoon part, an alteration usually attributed to F. Campbell-Watson. [25] Recordings [ edit] An American in Paris has been frequently recorded. The first recording was made for the Victor Talking Machine Company in 1929 with Nathaniel Shilkret conducting the Victor Symphony Orchestra, drawn from members of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Gershwin was on hand to "supervise" the recording; however, Shilkret was reported to be in charge and eventually asked the composer to leave the recording studio. Then, a little later, Shilkret discovered there was no one to play the brief celesta solo during the slow section, so he hastily asked Gershwin if he might play the solo; Gershwin said he could and so he briefly participated in the actual recording. This recording is believed to use the taxi horns in the way that Gershwin had intended using the notes A-flat, B-flat, a higher D and a lower A. [16] The radio broadcast of the September 8, 1937 Hollywood Bowl George Gershwin Memorial Concert, in which An American in Paris, also conducted by Shilkret, was second on the program, was recorded and was released in 1998 in a two-CD set. Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra recorded the work for RCA Victor, including one of the first stereo recordings of the music. In 1945, Arturo Toscanini conducting the NBC Symphony Orchestra recorded the piece for RCA Victor, one of the few commercial recordings Toscanini made of music by an American composer. The Seattle Symphony also recorded a version in 1990 of Gershwin's original score, before he made numerous edits resulting in the score as we hear it today. [26] Harry James released a version of the blues section on his 1953 album One Night Stand, recorded live at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago ( Columbia GL 522 and CL 522). Use in film [ edit] In 1951, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer released the musical film An American in Paris, featuring Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron. Winning the 1951 Best Picture Oscar and numerous other awards, the film was directed by Vincente Minnelli, featured many tunes of Gershwin, and concluded with an extensive, elaborate dance sequence built around the An American in Paris symphonic poem (arranged for the film by Johnny Green), costing $500, 000. The music is absolutely a gift from Heaven, as Beethoven himself asserts. Thank you to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for graciously sharing such a performance, one of the best I've enjoyed lately, and a visual treat as well! Bravissimi! However, I don't know who or what translated from German. I hope it was a robot. Aside from the huge gaps in the translation flow, probably due to repetition of words? Well. that's unusual. But then The Creator, to Whom Beethoven dedicates this music in gratitude for the beauty of Creation, is repeatedly referred to using the pronouns he and him without capitalizing the H. Now, I'm not even religious and find that so. well, such a faux-pas, for anyone involved with Arts and Culture. Regardless of one's beliefs, it is very disrespectful towards about half the people in the World, or more. And disrespectful towards Beethoven, his work and his music. Most shockingly it went unnoticed! I suggest someone ought to fix it. Thanks again though. I really enjoyed it.

A pesar de que es música muy alegre me emociono hasta el punto de llorar, excelente orquesta excelente Dudamel.

There are some films that explore criminal injustices, racism, and white supremacy that feel like they exist for the pleasure of some sick people to see black people be brutalized. This is not one of those films. Michael B Jordan, Brie Larson & Jamie Foxx do an outstanding job of conveying the pain, neglect, and conviction of their perspective roles.
Jordan plays the role of a recent Harvard law school grad who has decided to practice law in Alabama.
Larson, a white woman, accompanies him in his fight for equality and criminal justice. She plays her role well and does a great job of conveying emotion.
Foxx plays the role of a black man who was lied on about killing an 18 year old white woman and was given death row before his trial even began. I personally believe that Foxx was the show stealer because he commanded attention EVERYTIME he was on screen.

One of his first cases was that of Walter McMillian, a young man who was sentenced to die for a notorious murder he insisted he didn’t commit. The case drew Bryan into a tangle of conspiracy, political machination, and legal brinksmanship—and transformed his understanding of mercy and justice forever. Just Mercy is at once an unforgettable account of an idealistic, gifted young lawyer’s coming of age, a moving window into the lives of those he has defended, and an inspiring argument for compassion in the pursuit of true justice. Praise for Just Mercy “Every bit as moving as To Kill a Mockingbird, and in some ways more so... a searing indictment of American criminal justice and a stirring testament to the salvation that fighting for the vulnerable sometimes yields. ”—David Cole, The New York Review of Books 3. The Ladies Led Zeppelin Of ROCK N ROLL. Nothing like 80,s PowerBallads. This is the same cousin who demanded the free trip to Australia (if you don't know what I'm talking about just read this post and this update. ). The incident I'm about to narrate happened aboutique two years before the events of the "Vacation" post. We'll call the cousin Karan, her husband Todd and their kids, kids. There had been a terrible fire in Karen and Todd's home and while they and their kids were unharmed, their possessions were destroyed. They did have insurance, but claimed that they couldn't afford a hotel room till things got sorted out. Normally, my boyfriend's parents would have allowed them to stay at their place, but they were out of town and wouldn't return until a couple of days later. And they knew better than to let this family have free rein over their house. Boyfriend's sister was suddenly "unwell and unable to have guests in her home". (I DO NOT blame her one bit. I would have done the same. ) So the responsibility to be there for family fell squarely on my boyfriend's shoulders. He agreed to let them stay in his guest bedroom till his parents got back. I tried to talk him out of it but my man is kind and caring to a fault. It's what I love about him the most, but sometimes it's also the one thing I wish I could change about him. Anyway, I had been out of town for a few days and bf picked me up from the airport and we went straight to his place. Karen and Todd acted happy to see me. Of course they did. What choice did they have? After a surprisingly quiet and peaceful dinner we decided to go to bed. This is how the conversation that followed went. Bf: Karen, Shygirlturnedsassy and I are going to bed. If your kids are going to watch TV, just make sure the volume is down. Karen: What do you mean 'you and her'. You can't sleep in the same room. Not while my kids are here. Bf: What??? Karen: You can live a sinful lifestyle all you want but I don't want my kids exposed to it. I don't want to have to explain to them why a man and a woman who are not husband and wife are sleeping in the same bed. It'll be a bad influence on them. Bf: You're in my home Karen, you can't enforce your rules here. Just go to bed and keep your nose out of where it doesn't belong. Besides, it's not like we're having sex in front of your kids. I don't see how this would affect them. Todd: She's right you know, you really shouldn't be sleeping together if you're not married. But if you're gonna do that anyway, you should just go to her place. Bf: I have a better idea. Why don't you pack your shit and get the fuck out of MY apartment. Karen (Wiping off invisible tears): How could you say that? Were family. Why would you try to traumatise our kids with your sinful lifestyle. You're just being cruel. Our kids are being raised in a godly home and I'm protecting them from sin. Bf: (now raising his voice) I haven't started to get "cruel" yet. Just pack your things and go stay in a hotel room. Todd being the slightly more sensible one, knew that my bf meant business and he somehow got his wife to go to the guest room. He then apologised to my boyfriend and spewed some kind of bullshit about his wife being upset due to recent events (the fire) and that she didn't know what she was saying, as an excuse for her behaviour. My boyfriend told him he they could stay, but to remember that he wasn't going to be pushed around in his own home. Later on as we were busy engaging in our favourite activity, my cunty side had the urge to scream loud enough for the entitled family to hear me. But, as I didn't want to muddy the waters any more i decided against it.

I'm writing this because the Reddit threads on this topic are outdated and more people should know what I now know about the "new" timeshares. This is what it's like to be on the receiving end of a Wyndham timeshare sales pitch. Here goes: I vaguely knew what I was getting in to. My girlfriend and I arrived at an MGM owned casino. We get a bite to eat and as soon as we began our exploration of the Casino someone approached us offering vouchers for free play in the casino worth $75. I'm usually hesitant to ever get sucked into something like this but my girlfriend insisted that we do it. "They give it to you for showing up, we'll just say no, I've got friends who did this too, etc. " I went along and decided to keep an open mind about it. We talk to this guy who convinces people to attend this "seminar" for two hours and you'll receive the vouchers, plus a hotel room for a few nights from a selection of locations, plus free breakfast. He insists that all you need to do is say "no, not interested" once the 2 hours are up and you can just leave with your vouchers. Obviously his incentive isn't to sell anything but fill the buses with as many people as possible. The next day we get on the bus to the seminar location. My initial thought was that we'd all crowd into a room and watch some presentation before given the opportunity to bounce. I was caught off guard when every couple was assigned a salesperson. We meet our salesman and he immediately compliments us, is incredibly impressed by any of the words we string together, and has now become our fake best friend. We go into the presentation and the speaker does his thing. And everyone here should be aware that much of what he said was true, but his conclusions were abhorrent. He pointed out that in America we do not use all of our vacation days. We tend to waste them. We are also constantly putting off that one trip to our dream destination to "someday", but "someday" never comes. Next, he points out that most people, dying people, regret working so much and wish they spent more time with their families. These are true facts.  But then he concluded by suggesting we should all buy into this program which will allow us to take these dream vacations. It was the kind of sound financial advice you'd expect from someone who would directly benefit from the purchase and would never hear from you again. I want to note, the speaker was talented and entertaining. He was loaded with jokes, self-deprecating humor. It was funny, but holy shit. Looking around the room were the salespeople with the obnoxious fake laughter. They saw this probably a hundred times. It was creepy. It was surreal. 1/3 of the audience was in on the sales pitch.  The salespeople used every joke as an opportunity to measure the responses on the faces on their paired couple. The speaker would crack a joke and all the sales people would simultaneously throw their back out laughing before turning to the couple they were with to see if they were laughing too.  There were no opportunities for me to speak with my girlfriend without the salesman eavesdropping. The presentation moved fast enough that looking anything up seemed like too much of a distraction. As skilled as they seemed at controlling my behavior, the whole thing was throwing up red flags. Anyway, the presentation ended and our salesman led us to a table. On the way over there were other couples sitting out in the open with their assigned salesperson. They seemed excited about what they were hearing and excitedly signing papers. It We sit down and the salesman goes through the program in more detail. Here's where I get genuinely turned off. I work in IT, I'm about to finish my bachelor's degree, I don't think I'm a sucker but my love of science puts me at odds with a person who's giving me overwhelmingly biased information. He reiterates all of the great things about this program. He turns to my girlfriend, "what do you think about that? " "It sounds great! " Then he turns to me. "And what do you think about that? Is it something you'd want to do? " And I reply "Depending on the cost, yes, I'd do it! " Next, he has us estimate the cost of a hotel we normally pay for. Then he asks us how many vacation days we take per year. This is fine and easy math. If the average cost is $115 per night, and you take 10 days, it's $1, 150 per year in hotel costs. The "program" (timeshare but they completely avoid the term) lasts 20 years. It's still vague at this part but the salesman insists on focusing on how much we are gonna pay for these hotel rooms over the next 20 years. Cost per year multiplied by 20 years is 23, 000. But that's not the equation they're doing. They're not accounting for interest! Ah! It would be more over that time! How much does it really cost? About $250, 000. They estimate that the hospitality industry has an inflation rate of 11%!! Everyone should have it ingrained in their heads that inflation across the entire economy (in America) has been around 3% per year.  He was willing to tinker with the numbers but, generally speaking, we're spending a fuck ton of money on just hotels according to their calculations. And any close observers would note that the number should have been much lower. $1, 300×20 years×1. 1 20 = $174, 914. 99. I could have been wrong in my calculation but their cost estimate was obscenely high. Disclaimer: As several people pointed out, some of that math is off and I used the incorrect equation (this does not change the conclusions). Here is a better description from a more qualified redditor /u/mowscut: As an actuary, both yours and their calculators bothered me. No idea where 250k comes from, but your calculation assumes you’re paying the fully inflated price (in 20 years) for every payment. The full value is a simple future value of annuity certain formula which is P[(1+i)n -1]/i where i is the interest, n the number of payments and P the payment amount. This gives 1, 300(1. 120 -1)/. 11~83, 000. Which is also a crazy number, but formulaically appropriate. Then he asks if we have any more questions. Uh, yeah, how much are we talking about here? They never mentioned up to this point how much it costs! But I'm skeptical and the questions I'm asking are things like how do you actually book a vacation? What happens if I change my mind about it? Is it transferrable? The salesman doesn't know the answers to these questions so a higher level salesman comes over. He's very happy to meet us. He loves the outfit I'm wearing. He compliments various other features and, with the limited amount of information I've provided, seems completely ready to compete with the other salesman for the title of my new best friend. He answers some of my questions but can't provide any documentation to back up his claims. They still won't provide a price but they hand an iPad to my girlfriend to start filling out personal information. I look over and as soon as I see there's a field for the social security number I damn near slap it out of her hands. They were literally going to do a credit check to see how much the cost would be for us! Huge red flag for me. First, the inquiry shows up on your credit report. While that may not be so bad, I want to be informed on making a purchase and at least know a price range before taking that kind of step. This throws the salesman off. Apparently, no one stops at this part of the process. The head sales guy says it's fine, and offers for us to check out a room which would be the type of room we'd be staying in if we join this program. I still don't know how much this program costs. We go and the salesman leaves my girlfriend and I alone to explore at our own pace.  This is where I frantically looked for the Reddit thread where personal finance gurus say "GET THE FUCK OUT OF THERE, THEY KIDNAP REDDITORS LIKE YOU AND YOUR CLONE BECOMES A SALESMAN". I found a few threads, and they did warn against this, but they were at least a year old and it didn't all seem timely. I couldn't find costs online either, so I thought to myself "how much per month would I be willing to pay for something like this? " I concluded $45 per month. But I still had misgivings about making a big commitment on such short notice when I couldn't even read anything like a contract. I'd rather go home and read independent reviews so I can be confident in my decision. I couldn't get to that point. Once again we end up back at the table but this time the salesman has a laminated piece of paper with prices on it! I immediately I see huge numbers and realize why they waited so long to show it. They wanted approximately $130, 000 for the total program. It would be $13, 000 down to get started, and almost $500 per month.  (Note: when I did the math later, the actual cost we'd likely pay is around what they wanted for the program. But we'd be paying a fortune upfront and have a monthly payment. We could only go to where Wyndham had properties, which was in America or Australia or some islands, but if we wanted to go to Europe it would be through RCI, which cost about $300 per week. That's about the cost of an AirBnB in some locations, so if you're a smart traveller it may not be worth it at all. ) "Would you rather pay this? " The head salesman circles the $174, 000. "Or this", he circles the $130, 000. Ooga not want pay big number when ooga pay small number instead. I didn't want it. $45 dollars was as high as I'd go. This is the part where they tried to pit my girlfriend against me in an amateurish attempt at manipulation. First, they go through the list of everything we ever told them about what we liked about the program (before we ever heard a price). They even sneak in a "you should be willing to sacrifice something for it" and gave a few examples like eating out less or having fewer cups of coffee from Starbucks. So I'm telling the salesman that this is way too expensive and once again the head sales guy shows up. He says things like "I thought you said you liked the program? You said it was a 10/10. Are you saying it's not a 10/10? You said you'd be willing to sacrifice for this! " He was getting irritated. Then he turned to my girlfriend and says "it doesn't sound like he's as rich as he says he is". At this point I was infuriated. Best friends don't say things like this to each other. But I held my cool. I looked him dead in the eye and firmly said "I'm gonna pass".  But damn, the manipulation didn't stop and they didn't give up. They leave us alone to fill out a brief survey with a guy who definitely doesn't sell anything. So this guy shows up, introduces himself, and asks us about why we didn't buy it. I was truthful, it was too expensive and I wasn't willing to spend all that for it. I also felt pressured to make a big commitment on something that hours earlier I knew nothing about. So then he offers to sell us a "trial" program. It's a fraction of the price and it only lasts two years. It starts to be appealing, but then it is also limited to certain locations. I ask to see the contract and the guy says "what do you want me to do, sit here and read you a contract"? At that point he gets frustrated and offers to walk us to the exit. It had been 4 hours. We get our vouchers and leave. Tl;dr: it would have been a bad financial decision. Edit: There are a TON of stories in this thread from people who have had experiences with timeshares. They are all worth reading!

As you fulfill certain challenges and experiences, you will earn miles to pay off the cost of the getaway package or, eventually, to exchange for in-game rewards. Rewards range from in-game Nook Inc. merchandise and helpful items that can enrich your time on the island, to tickets that you can use to visit distant islands. Island Tours: These “mystery island tours” are at the whim of the pilot, so you never know where you will end up! Once on these smaller islands, feel free to gather as many items as you want – like DIY materials and creatures – and take them back with you to your island. Party Play: With the Nook Inc. Deserted Island Getaway package, up to eight people can live on one island. * In Party Play, you can call up to three other players to explore the island at the same time. Whoever calls the others will be the Leader, making the others the Followers. It’s easy to change out the Leader, letting others quickly take charge. Any creatures or items found by Followers will be stored in a recycle box at the Resident Services building! Land Development: While you can cross rivers on your island by pole-vaulting and climb elevated land using ladders, you can also change the landscape by adding bridges and slopes. Once your island is fully decked out, you’ll receive a permit to freely pave your own paths, as well as perform major construction like changing the paths of rivers or building and demolishing cliffs. With your own maintenance and construction permits, you can flex your creative muscles on the land itself, not just the stuff on it. NookLink: Yes, Tom Nook likes to put his name on everything. But when it’s a Nook product or service, you know you are getting something that’s high quality. With NookLink, which is part of the Nintendo Switch Online app, you can scan a Custom Design QR Code pattern from previous games Animal Crossing:** New Leaf or Animal Crossing:** Happy Home Designer with your real-life smartphone and then download them to Animal Crossing:** New Horizons. When connected online, you can talk with friends who also have the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game with the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app using your smartphone as a keyboard or for voice chat. NookLink will launch in March, soon after the selected departure included in your Deserted Island Getaway Package. A detailed breakdown of the Getaway Package experience! Choose Your Island: Before boarding your flight to the island, you will choose the island from a range of options. Choosing to live in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere, for example, will affect the timing of the seasons, so select the location that suits you best. When the seasons change on the island, so do the activities. For Northern Hemisphere residents, spring will just be starting when the game launches on March 20, so expect blooming cherry blossoms to show up soon! Orientation: After landing on the island, you will receive a helpful orientation session from the Nook Inc. staff. At this time, you’ll be provided with the tent that’s included with your getaway package. You can chat with other island residents about where you want to set up your new home, and help them choose their home locations as well. Resident Services:** The Resident Services facility is available to support your daily needs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They provide you with services such as the sale of everyday goods, the purchase of unwanted items and helpful advice. Become a Home Owner: The tent provided to you by Nook Inc. is great, but have you considered a house? Home loans have no deadlines, interest or assessment, and you can pay your loan back at your own pace. A house offers much more space than a tent and also includes storage space for any extra furniture and baggage. Once you own a home, you can channel your inner interior designer, setting up the walls, flooring and furniture however you like. You can also use extension and remodeling services to expand and customize your home even more. Customization Deluxe: Animal Crossing:** New Horizons offers more customization options than ever before, from personalizing the look of your character all the way down to skin tone, hairstyle and clothing, to placing buildings and items wherever you want on the island. You can even decorate the inside and outside of your home! Turn that island into a MY land! Airport: This is the first place you will land on the island. (It is an airport, after all. ) It’s also available to use 24 hours a day, beginning on the day after your arrival. At the airport, you can invite residents of other islands to your own island via the internet or local wireless. You can also travel and visit other islands yourself! Up to eight people can play on a given island at one time**, so feel free to get a good group together and make some fantastic memories. Island-wide Broadcasts: At the start of each day, Mr. Nook, CEO of Nook Inc., will make a broadcast to all residents, updating them with the latest on important island events and advice about how to best enjoy island living. Features and updates to further your island enjoyment! New Residents: When you first land on the island you will only have a few animal residents living there with you. But as you develop your island from the ground up, more neighbors will visit and choose to move in. You can even invite some of the new residents to live there yourself! There’s nothing better than a welcoming neighbor. Free Updates: Free updates will be added after the game launches, with seasonal events continually added throughout the year. The first free update will be on launch day, March 20. By installing this update, you can celebrate Bunny Day with a special event in April. If you own both Animal Crossing:** Pocket Camp for mobile devices and Animal Crossing:** New Horizons, you’ll receive special items in each game. Details will be announced at a later date on the official Animal Crossing:** Pocket Camp Twitter account. Additional Facilities: As you grow your island, more facilities will be built. This includes a museum showcasing the rich ecosystem of the island, a shop full of ready-made furniture and goods you can’t craft yourself, a tailor offering clothing and fashion items, and a campsite where you can invite guests for recreational purposes. Tourists & Events: Your island will not only be home to new residents, but also tourists as well! These temporary visitors are always welcome and can offer up items that cannot be crafted on the island. Visitors can also participate in fun events like Fishing Tourneys and Bug-Offs, which will pop up throughout the year. Through free updates to Animal Crossing:** New Horizons, new special events and seasonal guests will be introduced. amiibo Support: Animal Crossing:** New Horizons supports amiibo figures and amiibo cards from the Animal Crossing series. You can also invite these familiar faces to Photopia, an island that exists in the game, where you can place models in creative photo shoots. Twitter Takeover: Keep an eye out for social media savvy Tom Nook, who is rumored to take over the @AnimalCrossing Twitter account right after today’s video presentation. Animal Crossing:** New Horizons launches in stores, in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch and on on March 20 at a suggested retail price of $59. 99. In addition to the game, players can accessorize with Animal Crossing:** New Horizons Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite Carrying Cases, available in stores at a suggested retail price of $24. 99 each. A special-edition Animal Crossing themed Nintendo Switch system will also be available in stores on March 13 at a suggested retail price of $299. The system takes design inspiration from Animal Crossing: New Horizons (sold separately), with lovely pastel green and blue Joy-Con controllers that are white on the back, with matching pastel green and pastel blue wrist straps and a white Nintendo Switch dock, adorned with images of characters Tom Nook and Nooklings Timmy and Tommy. What is the difference between an Animal Crossing Direct and a standard Nintendo Direct? This presentation will ONLY include information about Animal Crossing, unlike a traditional Nintendo Direct that would focus on a variety of games and topics. This one is approximately ~25m in length. What if I can't watch the Nintendo Direct live due to work/school/etc.? If you would prefer a spoiler-free experience, we will be editing the top section of this post to include a direct link to Nintendo's official video replay (once it's available). We will also edit a recap of the announcements into the post body. Just don't scroll down! This helps prevent you from accidentally seeing any trailers or video thumbnails if you visit Nintendo's YouTube channel listing or the Nintendo Direct website. There WILL be spoilers here on the subreddit, so watch the video first! If you see any posts that should actually be here in the MegaThread, please do us a favor and hit the report button. Our SOP for posts is as follows: We will allow one post per announcement. The post we allow may not necessarily be the one that was submitted first. We typically will receive about 15 of essentially the exact same post in the span of about 60 seconds and will select the one that has the best title and links directly to the original source when available. Commentary on the announcement(s) should take place either in this thread or on the related separate announcement post. Each person's specific opinion does not need its own post.

I cant wait to say this movie feels as stale as the trailer. It reminds me the k drama the girl who sees smells. Did anyone else have trouble reading the subtitles because a dialogue was so fast I love the film but I was exhausted at the end of it. Someone needs to do a montage of “I dont want to be on camera” while they have a camera on them over their shoulder in plain sight in the corner of the building. Crappy movie. shallow. superficial. plastic surgery. Guess Vin Diesel got tired of voicing a humanoid tree, and wanted a more active superhero role. Brother they revealed the story in trailer, technically the had spoiled the film. 想看王宝强真正跟泰国仔打一架.

为什么没有字幕啊~~~. Easily best movie 2018.

We at Amazon work hard to ensure men can be inspired by our characters, because as men they are incapable of being inspired by anyone apart from other men and therefore money. This is fact. You do an excellent job!👍🏻 I came over from Brent I think or maybe from Vic's were I might have heard of you first, either way, they are good guys to get help from. Your honesty in the Q&A section was refreshing! Thanks for all your hard work in getting these stories and sharing them with us. Production is top notch too. You have more then doubled in subs since I joined, congrats! All the best to you this 2016 and most importantly, be safe.

Mediafire dark waters full. Mediafire dark waters 3. Mediafire dark waters music. It's really a shame how pikes are treated in most countries when people think they are just a nuisance. For example here in Finland there are many rivers and lakes that are populated by some of most valued species of fish, like trout and grayling. These waters are also inhabited by pike that can grow easily over 1 meter in lenght. There are also places where pike have been ruthlessly killed and in these places it seems that most species of fish have been dwarfing in size over the years. Luckily most of the fishers are beginning to understand how important it is for the ecosystem to have large apex predators.

6:54 - The ball went where she was looking. Great acting but really, we've ALL seen this story before.
This is for the generation who never saw this story before because they weren't around. For those of us who HAVE seen the story before this becomes tired and frankly, the movie is too long.
Mark does an amazing job but Anne Hathaway's wig was comical.

Oh I know what trolling is! Thats so cool! I trolled in Alaska last summer for King Salmon and Silvers. After we trolled half the day we started bottom fishing- the guide gave me a huge piece of herring for my circle hook. I caught a 142 pound halibut and a 10 pound Yelloweye. That halibut fought so hard! I thought it was going to pull me in the water! The guide and my dad had to me get it up. Nuts those things r.
I reallyyyyyy like this one 💞.
Just added to my watchlist.

Movie Info Christmas in Tokyo, Japan. Three homeless friends: a young girl, a transvestite, and a middle-aged bum. While foraging through some trash, they find an abandoned newborn. Hana, the transvestite with delusions of being a mother, convinces the others to keep it overnight. The next day, using a key found with the baby, they start tracking down the parents, with many adventures along the way

Genre Drama, Comedy
release date 2003
Satoshi Kon's animation films are increasingly impressive with each new release. This movie is not only a technical masterpiece of the Japanese animation style, but can also rival a good independent live-action film in its storytelling. The film's plot also doubles as a social commentary about life on the fringe in Tokyo (not only the homeless but also cultural minority and the mentally disabled) from both the inside and the outside looking in. As a Westerner, I was astonished at how the homeless characters adapted to Japanese traditional practices for their survival.
The story of "Tokyo Godfathers" is much more compelling and heartwarming than Kon's previous films, Perfect Blue" and "Milennium Actress" but the signature semi-realistic drawing style from his other films is still prominent. The discrepancies in movement between each character in the action sequences is particularly phenomenal. The backgrounds are intricate and perfectly painted. Note the art direction of the background buildings in some scenes to add even more connotation to the plot - sometimes they are more than what they seem!
Kon is the next Miyazaki, and I predict that he will continue to bring Japanese animation films to the international foreground years to come.

Note [ modifica | modifica wikitesto] ^ a b Scheda di Tokyo Godfathers, su. [ citation needed] Plot [ edit] One Christmas Eve, three homeless people – a middle-aged alcoholic named Gin, a former drag queen named Hana, and a dependent runaway girl named Miyuki – discover an abandoned newborn while searching through the garbage. Deposited with the unnamed baby is a note asking the finder to take good care of her and a bag containing clues to the parents' identity. The trio sets out to find the baby's parents. The baby is named Kiyoko ( 清子), based on the Japanese translation of Silent Night literally meaning "pure child", as she is found on Christmas Eve. Outside a cemetery, the group encounters a high-ranking yakuza trapped under his car. The man happens to know the owner of the club where Kiyoko's mother used to work; his daughter is to marry the club owner that day. At the wedding, the groom tells them that the baby's mother is a former bar girl named Sachiko. He gives them Sachiko's address, but the party is interrupted when a maid, revealed to be a Latin American hitman in disguise, attempts to shoot the bride's father. The hitman kidnaps Miyuki and the baby and takes them back to his home. There, Miyuki befriends the hitman's wife and shows her some pictures of her family. Hana searches for Miyuki and Kiyoko while Gin takes care of an old homeless man who is dying in the street. After giving Gin a little red bag, the old man peacefully passes away. Some teenagers show up and beat up Gin and the dead old man. Meanwhile, Hana finds the girls and they go off to find a place to stay. They go to Hana's former club. Gin, who was rescued by another member of the club, is also there. The trio sets out to find Sachiko's house, but they discover that it has been torn down. They are informed of the unhappy relationship between Sachiko and her husband, who is a gambling alcoholic. The group rests at a store until they are told to leave by the clerk. Hana collapses, and is taken by Gin and Miyuki to the hospital. Once at the hospital, Gin finds his daughter, who is also named Kiyoko, working as a nurse. Hana berates Gin in front of his daughter and storms out of the hospital, with Miyuki following behind with baby Kiyoko in hand. Hana and Miyuki find Sachiko about to jump off a bridge. Sachiko insists that her husband got rid of the baby without her knowledge, and that they return the baby to her. Meanwhile, Gin finds Sachiko's husband, who confirms a TV report Gin saw earlier that Kiyoko was actually stolen by Sachiko from the hospital. They chase after Sachiko and the baby. After an intense car chase, Miyuki chases Sachiko to the top of a building. Sachiko reveals she became pregnant in hopes it would bring her closer to her husband. When her baby was stillborn, she decided to kidnap Kiyoko from the hospital, thinking, in her grief, the baby was hers. As Sachiko is about to jump off the building, her husband comes out of his apartment, located just across the street, and begs her to start over with him. Sachiko jumps off nevertheless, but Miyuki manages to catch her before she falls, but then Sachiko accidentally drops Kiyoko. Hana jumps off the building after Kiyoko, catches the baby, and lands safely due to a miraculous gust of wind. Hana, Miyuki, and Gin are taken to the hospital. Miyuki hands Gin his cigarettes and drops the old man's small red bag on the floor, revealing a winning lottery ticket. Kiyoko's real parents want to ask the trio to become her godparents. When a police inspector introduces them to the trio, the inspector is revealed to be Miyuki's father. Movie critic George Peluranee notes that "Tokyo Godfathers is a film that shows the small yet significant ties that each of us have with supposed strangers, and tells well the story of miracles, family, love, and forgiveness. " [ citation needed] Susan Napier points out that Tokyo Godfathers is part of a trend in anime and manga as depicting families in an increasingly dark fashion, showcasing the problems with traditional families, and attempts by people to construct a "pseudo-family" out of an increasingly fragmented and isolating modern Japanese society. [7] It is put forth that despite the seeming criticisms of traditional families throughout the film, it ends with a more conservative feeling as everyone returns to their traditional/original families. Despite its seemingly traditional ending, the film offers a more radical version of family. Throughout the story these three homeless vagabonds unknowingly form a "pseudo-family" to protect themselves from the outside world and to overcome their personal demons. [7] Release [ edit] This movie was released in North America by Sony Pictures on December 29, 2003 in an unsuccessful attempt to get an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature. [8] The movie was released on sub-only DVD on April 13, 2004, [9] and they've planned to use DTS for the DVD, but was ultimately scrapped. [10] Announced on December 19, 2019, international animation licensor, GKIDS, will release the movie on March 9, 2020 with a brand new 4K restoration and a new English dub. [11] Reception [ edit] The review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes reported that 90% of critics have given the film a positive review based on 68 reviews, with an average rating of 7. 07/10. The critics consensus states, "Beautiful and substantive, Tokyo Godfathers adds a moving – and somewhat unconventional – entry to the animated Christmas canon. " [12] On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of 73 out of 100 based on 25 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews". [13] Notes [ edit] ^ a b c In the Animax Asia release of the film, Gin is voiced by Darren Pleavin, Hana by Russel Wait, and Miyuki by Candice Moore. STORY - In brief, Tokyo Godfathers is a heart-warming Christmas story about family. Slightly elaborated, it's a rather unique slice-of-life movie featuring a less-than-average family. Sure, inspiration was taken from an old western film (3 Godfathers), but I haven't seen it, and I don't think having seen it would have affected the charm of this one. (Other than the bare bones, the details of the two movies are vastly different anyway. ) read more Aug 27, 2011 What else can I say... This movie had a great storyline, a huge unexpected twist near the ending, held mystery from the very beginning, had very witty humor (I caught myself laughing out loud many times), characters were well introduced, it was rather heartwarming as well, family-focused, gives definition to what life truly is, pacing and story progression was really good, art was outstanding, I really have to say that I enjoyed this movie A LOT. Made me remember the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future but twisted it up a bit. This was a remarkable movie. I recommend it to everyone. I added Dec 23, 2018 I watch Tokyo Godfathers every Christmas. It's a fantastic Christmas movie, but it's not just a Christmas movie. It's also a fantastic family movie and a fantastic auteur film. It's Satoshi Kon's greatest movie, out of the few films he was able to make in his lifetime. The main characters are Gin, Hana and Miyuki. All of them are hobos and all have contrasting personalities. Gin is an alcoholic who doesn't want to face reality, so he makes up stories and lies a lot. He wants to shift the blame of his failures onto someone else instead of changing for the better. Hana is an okama, Feb 17, 2007 From the creator of Perfect Blue comes Tokyo Godfathers. ɇ‘e.a.c.e. I loved Tokyo Godfathers! It was the best! I am also a big fan of Japanese animation so it was a big treat for me. My favorite character was Mayuki. My favorite part was when Gin said something like "I feel like some meat." and he looked at a cat and Mayuki was like "Don't you even think about it! and she hugged all her cats tightly. The movie of course had good themes like the main theme I think was don't look at apperences look at the inside. Like Hana, Gin and Mayuki were the most awful looking people, yet they had wonderful hearts.
